Most people just really don't have the deep itch or desire to do it. I usually find that the only ones who succeed are the ones who really, really, really like to write. Yes, you need instruction and guidance. Maybe a push to start. But most people who end up full-time writers like me got addicted to it pretty quickly. It's fun!
