Easier said than done. Like my first point, this would be great if you already had the followers. Publications generally like to see that you have some followers and recommendations. This is obvious because they also want to ensure traffic is being brought to their publication.
I submitted my work to Joel Mwakasege owner of the Be Yourself Publication, which has 100k followers, when I had ZERO followers. He made me re-work my piece, but he published me without any fans because he cares about great writing. I get what you’re trying to do and I appreciate it, but I’d be careful to promote anything veering toward the “woe is me” attitude I see plague so many writers who feel like small fish. A little discernment goes a long long way.
